  Republican Party is pretty much done!

  after leaving the jehovah's witnesses, i started getting in to politics.

  i naturally found myself going republican and voted a long those lines.

  however, with my more pagan nature and being pretty much against christianity.

  The kingdom is within. So when you pray you are talking to yourself.

  God helps those who help themselves.

  If you want your cancer to be cured you better get moving and doing what has to be done, turn over stones

  and look for answers and cures.

  If you want a job, the squeaky wheel gets the oil, keep pestering them.

  The third prayer, if you mean it you will be motivated to dontate your financial and physical energy.

  I have had a lot of prayers answered by praying and helping myself and maybe sometimes even God helps.

  I cant rule out that God hasnt helped me numerous and various times in my life.

  Why did "Back Calls" change to "Return Visits"?

  does anyone remember the rationale that was used in rebranding "back calls" as "return visits"?.

  while on the subject does anyone else remember any theocratic name changes like,.

  district assembly to district convention.

  I was in a congregation in Cleveland when the change occured the congregation was heavily saturated

  with Italians what they said from the stage was that the mafia made back calls so we don't want

  to use that terminology, we will use return visits.

  say it is an entitlement program funded by general fund revenue.

  i noticed some posters who used to argue along christian lines, but don't do so, anymore.

  granted, it's a tough line to keep to on this forum.

  i would be interested to hear (read) of people who came here as believers, and then transitioned to unbeliever, and the reasons for that.

  I started out as a witness. My research tells me that is not Christian. They don't believe Christ is God. Witnesses

  believe in Christ like atheist believe in Christ or Santa Clause.

  I escaped the JW's in 83. At various times I have described myself as an agnostic.

  I have read almost all of Dawkins some Hitchens and Sam Harris and Bertrand Russel's

  "Why I am not a Christian"

  I have know since the 80's that we become what we think about.

  If we think we are rich we will become rich. If we think we are healthy we will becom healthy.

  Conversely if we think we are sick we will become sick.

  If you think about atheism and read about it you will become an atheist.

  If you think about macro evolution you will believe macro evolution.

  And I have seen it on this board. People become what they think about, they talk about it

  they look for evidence and they believe.

  For myself, I have chosen to be Christian. And I can find lots of good reasons to be Christian and believe the

  bible. The internet is full of lots of bibical and Christian defense.

  For me being a Christian makes the most sense and has the best reward. And if the atheist are correct,

  I will not loose anything of even know I have lost anything. It's a win win.

  So to answer your question I have gone from being a pagan JW thru agnosticism to being a Christian.

  The BEST way to "wake up" a JW

  we have debated this over many years and in many threads, as all of us have family and/or former friends still in.

  it seems that there is no "best" way to wake up a jw, it is as elusive as the "true" religion it seems.. but a comment made by poster "emery" on another thread stood out to me, he/she said :.

  "what i have gathered is that most witnesses seem to be in it for emotional reasons.

  I think she choose dog food because it is balanced it has everything you need in it.

  She didnt pick it for the taste, but the practicality.

  Depending on the company and circumstances, I wouldnt talk negatively about Jesus or Islam. Both groups have fanatical elements that act on their emotions.
